DIFFRAC EVA

Postby jknowles » 22 Mar 2012, 11:40

Hi

We have DIFFRAC EVA software from Bruker which runs on Xp (has the green USB dongles. We also have the older parallel port dongles). I was wondering if anyone had managed to get it working on Windows 7? We were told it is possible but I have not managed tog et it running. The dongle seems to install OK and is seen as a device but the EVa when it runs seems to think it is not plugged in.

Any help appreciated.

Dear Jonathan,

One post should suffice. I have, therefore, removed your post from the other subforum. Thank you for your understanding.

Best,

Dear Johnathan

Please ignore Rudi's post as I am sure you are slightly confused as to what he is on about. In short i was worried your post would not get seen in just the software forum area so i duplicated here, hence the double posting and of course it is in no way your fault.

Since this thread has replies on it i will not duplicate it back.

Welcome to the forum, its not always this entertaining.

Sadly neither the responses so far have been much use to your problem so far.

I use to use the white dongles in the past and now at Liverpool everything is done by network licenses. But I wonder if it is something simple like the user does not have sufficient privileges to control the parallel port and or write to the registry. To be crude have try tried as administrator?

I also seem to remember some diagnostic software coming with the installation for checking the dongle, do you still get that? Chris Cowden was always a great contact for these things.

I'm guessing Bruker don't offer a cost efficient trade-in path.

I am sorry, but this was not obvious. I guess the double posting was unintended, after all.

Apologies for that.

Hi everyone,
even though this post is a bit older, I'd like to add some information... Apparently, the Diffrac Measurement Software (Commander + Wizard) is Windows 7 compatible, but only works with administrator rights.
We had the new Diffrac Suite installed in 2009, but will have to get expensive upgrades for Windows 7. They also come with a new dongle. The dongle will then work network-wide and is no longer restricted to a single computer.

Hope this helped.
